Waterproof Matches

Matches are a great and simple way to start a fire in a survival situation as long as they are waterproof. If your matches get wet they will never ignite.
Task

Make your own weather proof matches.

  • Matches
  • Candle
  • Toilet Roll
  • Heat Resistant Mat
  • Nail Varnish
Instructions
  1. Match Preparation – Take a piece of toilet roll and wrap it around the match leaving the match head uncovered.
  2. Candle – Light the candle and wait for the wax to start to melt. Tilt the candle and allow wax to drip onto the match stick and ensure the toilet roll is covered. Allow to cool.
  3. Waterproofing – Use nail varnish and carefully coat the top of the match. Allow to dry.
  4. Test – Strike the match and test
