Project Kenya 2019

Project Kenya 2019 is an amazing opportunity to be part of a large group of Explorers, Network members and supporting adults that will be volunteering in 2 orphanage schools near Lake Nakuru, Kenya

The trip is planned for 10 days in August 2019 and final dates will be known as soon as the flights become available. It is open to members of Somerset Scouting who will be aged between 14 and 24on 1st August 2019. Interested adult volunteers are also encouraged to join the support team.

We will be working in Melon Mission and Silver Bells schools offering help with anything from simple class teaching, low level building work, planning activities with children or painting the new classrooms or any other projector or activity the school wishes us to be part of. This is going to be a life changing experience for everyone involved. Our simple aim is to help the schools and without the volunteer groups that visit the schools they would not survive and the children would be left to walk the countryside of Kenya or travel to the big cities to survive on the street.

The trip will of course offer some fun things too! We will be going on a day’s safari and visiting the waterfalls of Lake Nakuru. We will also have a daily trip into a civilisation for hot showers, a cool swim in the pool and of course the daily fix of……..Wi-Fi!!

Young peoples booking forms are already coming in but that does not mean spaces will be limited, although we have an upper limit of 120 for our total party size! There is no selection process to be part of this amazing opportunity – apart from the ability to fundraise the necessary fees needed (your Unit/Group and the Project Kenya 2019 team will help you get to this target)
